Discourse Guide

Welcome!

This is a place where we can have discussions about the cooperative. We use to take meeting notes and create backlog items and share things.

If you haven’t already, once you subscribe to become a member you will have access to the forum. If the cost would be prohibitive please message @membership-circle and ask for a waiver.

For a few quick tips on getting started as a new user, check out this blog post

Creating topics

Any user can create a topic by clicking on the “New Topic” button at the top.

You can also create topics in the following categories by emailing:

You can also message circles directly by emailing:

You can see all tags here and all the groups here. Groups can have multiple emails so you can see which emails works under manage > interaction.

Getting notified of topics

Discourse is very flexible in how it notifies you of new topics. If you prefer, you could interact with this forum exclusively through email, exclusively through the website, or some combination of both.

By default, you will get an email once a week with a summary of the top posts. You will also get emails if you are mentioned or something that you are watching is posted. You can change these settings in your email preferences, to either disable these emails or, if you turn on “mailing list mode”, get emails for every post.

You can mention other users or groups of users using the @ symbol in a post, like @saulshanabrook or @general-circle, so that they are notified.

You can also choose to “Watch” certain categories or posts, so that you are notified for every new update to them. You can update which categories you watch in your categories preferences.

Overall, if there is a certain way you would like to be notified of things, it’s probably possible with some configuration! Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions. But don’t fret, the defaults will also probably work fine, you don’t want to think about it too much.
